Twitter Tops One Billion Tweets!

As of March 4th Mashables Ben Parr reports that Twitter has surpassed 10 billion tweets.
This shows that Twitter is still growing at a fast pace, Twitter had went past one billion tweets in November 2008 and five billion tweets just four months ago so you can see that Twitter is still having explosive growth.

I have to say that I am responsible for only 24,000 of those!

There are many Twitter applications and tools advertised and offered on the internet today. I use some time tested ones that are established and have been most valuable to me in the past twelve months.
These are the tools that I have used consistently in 2009 to enhance and manage my Twitter accounts. I have ranked these in order of how much I value each tool saving the best for last...

Monitter- http://monitter.com/

Find people that have the same interests as you do. Monitter enables you to search the Twitter stream for a set of keywords. Monitter allows you to set up columns that moniter Twitter in real time for the desired keywords that interest you. Monitter is a great tool for finding people who are tweeting about a specific topic. It is handy for find those in a target niche.

Manage your friends and followers. This is a very important utility that enables you to be a little choosy about who you follow. Shannon Whiteley wrote this application when she found that the Twitter application itself was a little lacking in being able to mange your friends and followers. You can use this to see who is following you and who you are following. The application is simple and easy to use I use this for clearing out followers that have quit following me. I use it for un following undesirable tweeps like porn spammers and others. I have used this quite a few times in the last year to even my following and follower ratios.

This application called Social Oomph used to be named Tweetlater. Social Oomph is a great application that keeps on growing! SocialOomph boasts tools to to boost your sicial media productivity. I use Social Oomph for sending a direct message to people that follow me. You can use Social Oomph to also return the follow, post automatic tweets to multiple accounts. This application also does numerous other tasks such as tracking keywords, schedule tweets, automatic direct messages to your followers, unfollow those who unfollow you, with unlimited accounts. SocialOomph is now able to schedule Facebook updates. There is a upgraded Tweet Cockpit which allows you to do much much more. You can filter time lines focusing on just you favorites, forward direct messages to others and mut annoying tweeters.

This great application is still my favorite to share photos on Twitter. I know that there are many ways to share photos on Twitter but Twitpic remains my favorite! This is a great application that I use to share photos of events and thjings in my life with my Twitter followers. Along with the photo link Twitpic will post a 120 character tweet describing the picture you are sharing. Pictures let people know what things are like in your life and makes you more personal, I use Twitpic a lot! This application needs no introduction to the Twitter veteran, there are rivals but I prefer to use Tweetdeck to manage my multiple accounts on Twitter. This Twitter Power Tool ranks number one because I use it almost every day. Tweetdeck allows me to watch all of my friends tweets, my @ replies, my direct messages, Facebook friends updates, Myspace status updates all in one place. Tweetdeck is a power users necessary tool as I can manage all my Twitter accounts from one screen. Tweetdeck allows me to observe all communications intended for me, it allows me to reply while also watching for friends and interesting tweets in the Twitter stream.
Twwetdeck is also able to search Twitter in real time for any keyword, allowing you to find others tweeting about stuff you are interested in or targeting a market for your business. "On Thanksgiving Day, as most of America was watching football, the Weber household was sitting around talking about bikes. We started looking though my dad’s old riding photos. These are so great that I had to share some with all of you…

My dad and some friends were Adventure Riders to the hilt back in the 1950’s. Sunday rides were the thing for these guys, with the occasional jaunt to Mexico City or somewhere thrown in for fun. First let’s introduce the characters. Here's the clan filling up for gas somewhere near Fort Collings, CO. We've got them from left to right:
Jerry Francis, 1950 Harley 74
Mike Sadusky, 1950 Harley 74
Warren Weber (my dad), 1950 Harley 74
Wendell Rea, 1942 Harley 45 CI. Notice the front knobby!

I guess the 1950 Harley 74 was 'all that', Just like the GS is (supposedly) these days. Seems pretty popular anyhow...

Here's the 'usual suspects' again taking a morning break on a nice Sunday ride.

One Sunday ride took 'em to the top of Mount Evans , elevation 14,264. This was back in the day before it was paved all the way to the top. It was, however, paved here if it hadn't been for the snow. I was recently in a similar situation on my Rally Twin coming over Pearl Pass. I thought it was touchy enough, and I didn't have a FOOT CLUTCH!!! Yikes!

Yet another 1952 Sunday ride ventured up Arapahoe Pass - it's near Eldora , Colorado and is now all wilderness. Stupid lousy rotten environmental freaks, but I digress… (sigh)

The clan started out from my Dad's house in Wheat Ridge , which is a stone's throw from Golden, CO. They usually left about 8:00 a.m. If you didn't arrive on time, they'd leave you. Hard knocks. They headed up to Boulder , CO and followed the nice, twisty, scenic Boulder Canyon to Nederland . From there they headed through the town of Eldora and up Arapahoe pass.

Now some things never change. There's always that one person in the group that either insists that they absolutely positively know where to go, or that it "not that bad". In this case, the group ended up venturing down this:

Turned out that this the wrong way (DUH!). The Harley guys actually let the english bike riders be guinea pigs on this part of the ride. Must've been one of those hot-headed british riding know-it-alls that suggested it in the first place...

After some back tracking and de-mudding operations, they finally found the right trail and made it to the top at 11905 feet elevation. Nice day!

I also think these guys could've invented the "No Fear" logo. I have fear when it associates a 750 lb hard tail with a stream crossing on a trail. These guys really deserve some respect for being able to pull this off. Or they deserve to be taken away in straight jackets, I'm not really sure.

Not that they didn't dab once or twice. OK, maybe they dabbed about 100 times, but they still made it across. Now it's time to take a break and dry out.

Here’s a portrait of my dad taken in 1951, just before the start of a nice ride. Notice the cool stylish apparel. Helmet? I don't need no stinking helmet! Of course, this was pre-head injury days....

These guys also had a lot of fun just playin’ around. Imagine getting a couple feet (OR MORE!) of air on a 750 HARD-TAIL Harley! This makes you GS-jumpers look like whimps, with your fancy rear suspension and all. Sheesh!

But the most insane (read: talented) member of the group in the area of piloting a Harley 74(7) through the air was a fellow named Kenny Erie. If Kenny was alive today and about 50 years younger, I’m sure he’d be one of the top names in freestyle!

These guys weren't shy of riding on a bit of snow, either. Here's Mike Sadusky on his 50 Harley. Man, I really envy this guy's legs. I bet he could straddle the 950 Adventure-S with his knees bent. Me, on the other hand, can't physically touch both toes to the ground at the same time. Mike used to drape his legs over the handle bars to stretch on those long road trips (no joking!). Who needs hiway pegs?

You’d think these guys would know when to stop. Apparently not…

Good thing Mike has those long legs...

These were taken up by my Dad's cabin on Mt Thorodin. Wanna park, but you're too lazy to put the side stand down? Just cram it in a snow bank and leave it like my dad did. Mike and Kenny are in the process of “parking”.

These guys were never short of play time. Once again, Mike's extra long legs save the day. Well, almost.

And again...

You’re not a real rider unless you can power slide…

So, as it goes on Thanksgiving day you’re supposed to think what you’re thankful for. I’m thankful for my dad being a nutcase in the 1950’s, buying my brother Wayne and I Z-50’s in the 70s, and riding every chance I get with my friends and family!

Is Anyone Using Direct Messages? Other than applications and newbie marketers...

I do not really get it and wonder how many clicks people get from the constant annoying, most times, spamming messages we get everyday in our Twitter accounts..

It is not the TIME TO SEND your link ... before you even have met a new person. If it wouldn't work in real life... "Hey my name is Joe Shameless go to my blog and buy my product", what makes you think it will work on social networks. It is the same here people like to do business with those they know and trust. I do!
Now I try and scroll back to see if I missed a message from a friend in my direct messages and I usually only reply if I see a genuine welcome message.
More as I have time I will browse through the list of direct messages to make sure I haven't missed something from a friend. I will reply to the messages that seem genuine, without a link and or original.
The crazy part is that seems a waste of time as very very rarely do I get a reply from these hand crafted responses. It appears that our Direct message in-box is like a safe-list junk list!
Most people are not reading them and we only use it to communicate stuff that we don't want everyone to know..

OK more direct messages we have all had enough of...

"Join my mafia family...." Grow up! If i wanted to play mafia I would be playing...

" A gave you a gift, give me one back..." A very annoying demanding one...

"see if your iq is higher than mine. take the iq quiz here:" I am fairly confident mine is higher...

I want to encourage others to use direct messages as they were intended. To be real, be original, be personal enough to use them.. and lets keep having fun!
I have met some great people through twitter and look forward to meeting more.

Riding Harleys, Bar B Ques and Swimming... I love summer!

Here we are and I have some great friends on Twitter granted, even though most of my life is lived here in South Dakota. I am taking a break from writing about Twitter and want to share some of my life with you all.

Today was awesome...
It started at 8:00 am when I got up did a little reading and reflection. Then wouldn't you know it my home and office internet connection was not working..
I took that as a sign and then remembered that there was planned maintenance today and left without check my sites and stats.
I headed out on this perfect morning headed for Black Hills fellowship where I go to get refreshed every week. We have an awesome group that has become our extended family there.

We had plans to ride out to Sheridan Lake for a BarB Que as our bro Scratches Mom was in town and he wanted her to meet us all. Dakota Point was the planned spot.

So off we rode side by side, headed for Sheridan Lake, it was quite a bit warmer now. Man I love summers :-)
We stopped at the top of the hill and pulled into the gas station to let everyone catch up...

We then headed into the beautiful Black Hills, headed for Dakota Point for some food and more... The warm air , sounds of large v twin exhausts and the smell of pines made it an memorable ride..
We arrived and parked the bikes, started chatting with some people allready enjoying Dakota Point.. Time to eat!
Scratch built the fire and cooked some great burgers and dogs..
We ate enjoyed the company and all waited the recommended time :-)
Then headed for the lake.. The water was warm and day was made complete by our friends as we frolicked in Sheridan Lake taking a break from the hot day...

Great food, great ride and the real gold great friends!

My day was great and now I am having a blast with my Twitter friends!

Twitter The Magical Marketing Goldmine, so we are told...

Hello my friends,

There are so many misconceptions about Twitter that I feel it is important to write about the reality of life on Twitter.
The community of Twitter is currently being bombarded by well meaning (well most any way..) people who want us to believe that Twitter is a magical goldmine . They give credence to the myth that Twitter is a magical goldmine that you can harvest and become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams...

We are continually receiving direct and @ reply messages telling us, "leverage twitter and become wealthy", "use my system and get 3000 followers in seven days and make money", "Serious about using twitter for your marketing? You gotta see this" and many others...

Is Twitter a magic gold mine?

Not like so many would have as believe and madly click on their links breaking out our trusty Visa cards.
The truth is that Twitter is a gold mine, a gold mine of people who are there to share their lives with others are like minded. I have found a goldmine of people who have a heart, love to help others and enjoy communicating with this 140 character platform!
I have been able to meet and become with many fine people that I would not ever have met if it wasn't for Twitter and the power of social networking.

Social networking and Twitter being my personal favorite, is a modern day phenomenon. The riches are in the people!
The truth is just as in this wonderful world we live in there will always be those who prey on and those who fall prey to the promises of easy money, power and fame.

I have changed much of how I approach and interact with the people on social networking sites, yes I post links, my internet businesses are taking shape. We are making money online in recession proof businesses. The real value though is the friendships I have made and there will be many more as like minded people gravitate towards each other.
I also post the finds I come across of value, things that are interesting, helpful or just funny! I help those I can and try to boost any valid non profit that I deem worthy. These things are the value I provide.. I have many who comment every week, thanking me for sharing links, caring and playing music. It is great fun!

I recommend ignoring the stuff that we know is just straight up hog wash...lol as in real life.. actually Twitter has become a part of my real life..
The people are real, have real feelings, wants and desires and just want to make a connection!

The truth is and the beauty of Twitter is if my tweets, or someone elses disturbs you or goes against your core beliefs there is a little magic block button.. Use it if you must! I have used it, very rarely though. Twitter is truly opt in in that sense that if some tweeps are unbearable to you, just unfollow them. Very simple to this simple riding man..

The true goldmine of Twitter is not the money we have been making my friends it is you, it is the people. Unique individuals that are generous enough to share their lives, loves, likes, and gripes with us on Twitter!

Bikers on Twitter! I meet the nicest people....

The other day I saw a tweet likening a leaking coffee cup to an AMF Harley Davidson and had to respond. Now to most of you that might not register so I must explain...

There were A few years 1970 thru 1981 that our beloved motorcycle company, Harley Davidson was controlled by a golf cart building, bowling ball peddling corporation. Now it probably kept Harley Davidson alive, but in the years following, the company found cheaper and quicker ways to build our favorite brand of motorcycle. Those years were disdained as our beloved Harley Davidson had been sold out to a heartless corporation.
Yes most likely because of this, Harley survived and was able to flourish in later years as motorcycling gained popularity. The bikes from those years became known for leaking oil and being less than the high quality motorcycles that we were so endeared to.. Things did change as in 1981 Harley execs made their move and purchased back the company and in the next few years designed and produced a motor that we know as the evolution that was reliable and didn't inherently leak.. such the saga..

Now if you know me from Twitter you have to be saying "Whats this got to do with Twitter?"
The power of social networking continues to astound me in my personal and business life.

I responded to that tweet and a conversation was started, happens very often right? This one was a special conversation though..

Controversial News and Comment For The Harley Davidson Biker. As we continued chatting, my normal routine is that I look at the persons Twitter profile, links ect to better relate to them.
The tweeting went back and forth as I realized I had just met a person that I believe will be a life long friend. In very little time I think we both realized that we share some very common ground, our faith and our love for Harley Davidson motorcycles..

It is not everyday that I meet someone so in tune with the things I hold dear, I have met so many great giving people on Twitter yet I know that this meeting was the start of a good friendship...
Lord willing Sturgis 2009 we should meet in person and hopefully carve a few miles out of the Black Hills...

Ok for months Fridays are crazy here on Twitter, I mean I enjoy being recommended as much as anyone.It will not be any different in coming months either as more people follow me every day...
I also have made it a goal to thank every person who recommends me. A personal thing I think is important.
NOW dont take that wrong like I am telling you what to do!

The deal with me though is to treat people like you would like to be treated, in fact we should treat them better than I treat myself..lol.. more on that another time!
So I thank each person and always have been like how will I recommend my friends..
So for a while I didnt recommend anyone, just wasnt going to play then cause I could see what might happen.
Either I will be tweeting all day recommending the many great people I have met on Twitter or leave a lot out!
Sure enough the Fridays I have succumbed to the #followfriday peer pressure at the end, I would be like I forgot this person, and that person.. it was a difficult problem for me..
So I am keeping a list now, not just my friends, business partners ect but Tweeters I see actually helping others.
It has took the pressure off! I will recommend those I see helping others which has allready increased my Twitter awareness cause I watch the Twitter stream more now.

Every year we do two events a Swap Meet and a Pool Tournament to raise funds for The Rapid City Club for Boys.
We make a mini run out of it and present the check to the administrators.

It is a blast! We pass out stickers and last year key chains to the boys. They mob us!
It is a great time and rewarding experience every year.

Mrkens Thoughts on Automatic Direct Messages to new Twitter Followers..

Hey friends, thought I would add my thoughts on our new poll. Just my thoughts, that and a dollar fifty will get you a cup of coffee!

It seems that there are a ton of Twitter experts today as my good friend Traci Knoppe was saying on our latest Business Builders Workshop call in show. Everywhere you look there is a new "expert" that will teach us the "rules" of Twitter. I make no such claims although I have a little experience...

I started the poll to your right and hope you will take the poll, leave me a comment with your full thoughts also. I am interested what people really think on this..
I see a lot of tweeps saying how much they dislike the automatic direct messages..and by my observations on new followers less people are using them...
So here are my thoughts..
I use them number one and have not stopped because some "experts" say that automatic direct messages are wrong. For myself and the amount of people that follow me, the times I am not posting on Twitter, ect I use them! I like to give people a greeting using Tweetlater, some people might have just gasped at the air!
Yes I use Tweetlater! For when I am doing things and want to post on Twitter. I have been reluctant to share this but have upgraded to professional and used this since I started on Twitter!
Back to the subject, Automatic Direct messages on Twitter, I also try to greet people personally after I am on and see them following me.
For me it is important to greet someone right after they follow me and connect with them when I can. So of course in my humble opinion this use is good!
Now! You notice in my poll the entry, DM's are ok but leave out your money link!
This is an incorrect use in my opinion and usually I do not respond to those auto direct messages because it is just flat rude! To say hey you followed me here buy my stuff, is rude and it does irk me when I get them. I see some who add a link and is tastefull, but most seem like BOOM heres MY stuff.

I think it boils down to the golden rule my friends.. just treat others as you would want to be treated! I think with that in mind and some common sense, you can determine what works for you on Twitter and all social networking sites.
I will keep reading what the "experts" are saying, taking the valuable stuff and just shine the rest on! It is not likely you will hear me tweeting complaining about those tweeps who do this or that friends. Twitter is opt in! If it really bothers me I will hit the unfollow button! That is the beauty of social networking, if someone or thier behavior bothers us that bad, just quit following them!

It is supposed to be fun! Treat others well, greet and engage them heartily by what ever method you choose and by all means have fun!

Fred Gondzar’s physical and financial condition are better than ever!

Fred Gondzar just keeps rockin’and rollin’ to greater success.

His thriving TriVita business has also given him plenty of time to enjoy his two favorite pastimes:
playing in a Beatles tribute band called the Abbey Road Band and riding his motorcycle.

The last four months have kind of blurred together since I joined this social media powerhouse, Twitter.com. and started hanging around the Twitterhood I now live in...
So much has taken place!

I have made new friends, found old friends, developed some great partnerships, have been helping many people develop their web presence, tweeted 12810 times to date, have been praised and criticized, received feedback positive and negative, learned many new things, applications, seen many money making systems, direct messages, blogs, web sites, opt in pages, dig deep every day to find the latest and best links to post, blipped great songs, listened to others blips, posted pics on twitpic, videos on Youtube.....ahhhh wow!

Twitter.com is definitely the hot spot to be!

I know there are many others and I also enjoy my friends on Facebook, TBD, MySpace ect, hands down though I spend the most time with folks on Twitter! It just is my favorite!

I have made some adjustments though! I get so involved every time I jump on that it is hard to get as much done as when I am not scanning tweetdeck, retweeting, repling ect...

The most important thing is not the ratings, the influence, the sales, the deals, the hype, pomp and circumstances... it is you! You and the relationships you are building while Twittering your time away!

In the months and years to come that have built strong, vibrant relationships on Twitter. Those we call when we need a little encouragement or some help getting over some tech issue.
We have a large slice of the internet world to help us define and redefine our systems and progress along the way.

We are approaching a huge change in the way the internet does business. The wealth and resources are transferring from the takers to real internet community, the givers and doers, the people who actually care and help people when no one will ever see or be able to repay you your help!
The truth is that Twitter is just plain fun, it has opened new door for multitudes of us to make friends, talk, network share and help each other.. It is way bigger than our programs, lists ratings, any and all of that!

It is about strong people helping each other to overcome and prosper in the most tumultious economic times this nation have seen in many years..

Laughter The Best Medicine

There is an increasing awareness today of the relationship between Health and our Mindset. Medical science is discovering that bitterness, lack of forgiveness and other such mindsets can increase and even cause ailments such as arthritis and related problems.

We find the wisest man in the world (Solomon) declaring “A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.” Let’s face it can you stay in a negative frame of mind when you are laughing your head off?

Quite a few years ago I heard a testimony of someone who was diagnosed with cancer and given just weeks to live. This person made a decision: “if I am going to die soon, I may as well die laughing”. Not a TOTALLY positive decision in itself, but at least they are thinking in a positive direction.

So they set off to the local video store to rent a bunch of the old funnies with stars such as Laurel and Hardy, The Marx Brothers, The Three Stooges and Abbott & Costello. These movies were their favorites and so they spent days watching these old time comedies and laughing and laughing.

Good clean fun, those were the days. I certainly remember these movies. I used to love them (and still do). My favorite comedy team was Laurel and Hardy. I also enjoyed the Marx Brothers.

Interesting fact about the Marx Brothers: I recently learned from a TV documentary, that Harpo could actually speak. His voice was ridiculed by someone and so he responded by refusing to speak, this we know him as the non speaking member of the group.

Laurel and Hardy were crazy yet genius in comedy, a very unlikely pair (one from London and one from Georgia). I remember seeing many of their movies during my youth. Of course I am still in my youth

For our cancer patient there was of course no room for remorse, sadness or any negative thinking during those days of such mirth. What was result of this exercise? Instead of dying laughing, they LIVED, the cancer gone.

Yes mindset DOES affect our health.
I have already mentioned this, but it is so important it bears mentioning again. Even physicians now agree that things like arthritis and many other ailments can be greatly attributed to harboring bitterness, anger and unforgiveness in our hearts and minds. So a good laugh that helps clear the mind can certainly be

A good twitter friend, Shileen Nixen, has an excellent testimony of how she was able to conquer her weight problem once she faced the fact that “it was the emotional and mindset part that needed major work”. The state of our minds plays a VERY important role in every area of our lives, including health and weight loss. After all Solomon who was the wisest man who every lived did say “As he thinks in his heart, so is he” Ps 23:7.

I am addicted to Twitter!

You know its true, if I had got any real serious sleep the last two months it was in between my Twitter fests!
How about you?
I am real bad, leave to do some errands and I am on my mobile phone checking messages, oops I have to stop and reply! LOL..
I have to discipline myself to take breaks from my latest pastime.

Honestly though I have been in this state of South Dakota through 8 winters, this one being the most snow I have seen here. This year I have not had time for being depressed cause it is freezing below zero because I have been having a blast on Twitter!
This may be foreign to you as it was to me before moving here. The truth is winter in these states brings out the demons of depression through the freezing isolation it can bring.
These factors plus lack of a lot of fresh air and sunshine can lead to a bad attitude, at the least.

Thanks to my Twitter friends as they are always making me laugh, checking up on me and being great people!
This is without the best winter i have ever had since moving here!

I am encouraging others that have the winter blues to get on Twitter, interact and make some friends!

What is your measure of success?

This word success seems to be what many are striving for and yet few feel they have achieved.

What does the word success mean to you?

It has different meanings for many people and when I get off track is when I start to believe “I will be a success when I make _x_ amount of dollars.” This is just not true, being a success includes making money but I think is only part of the whole package of being successful.

What is being truly successful, is it finally making seven figures a year? Is having a 5000 name and email opt in list? Is it being loved and appreciated by those who are around you?

There are many ways to determine success and I can only write what I think and feel is being truly successful.

I know that finding success is not only making money, athough that is part of being a success. One of the biggest factors of my success story is counting my blessings. Making myself aware of all the little things in my life that are given to me.

The biggest thing in my life that makes me a success is the people in my life that love and respect me. I am constantly amazed at the wonderful people in my life, most would show up at a drop of the hat if I needed them, and I would do the same for them. I think that all the money in the world can not buy that brand of friendship and the bond which my family seems to enjoy with those who are in our lives. That is the biggest portion of my life that makes me a success is the people in my influence. Never forget it and I have to remind myself of this when I start to think life is dealing me a bad hand. I had to remind myself of this fact this week. I have a great group of people in my life that love and respect me. This is the true measure of success. Everything else just does not measure up!

True success is giving back. To those people in your life who care about you, the community, and the world around you. The first is Inner-City Scholarship Fund has invested in the education of more than 116,000 students who live in some of the poorest neighborhoods. Helping others is true success. You thought all that success was just for you to roll around in! The second on our Squidoo lens is Action against hunger. An international organization that delivers emergency aid and to people suffering from natural disasters or man-made crises.

These are very important links on our lens because being successfull is giving back. Help with what you have. Not everyone is at the same level but if you want to feel true success I believe part of that is because you are giving and sharing with others. The more success we have making money in business the more we will do to help others.

I endeavor to help those who follow me to be a true success, yes for many that will mean teaching them how to fish. Teaching them recession proof business ideas. Showing them ways to make money online. Ways to increase their bottom line.I also hope to share with you that being a true success is far more than your financial statement. It is your entire life. Count your blessings, give to those that you can.

Hey thank you, I am honored you came to read my post!

I am looking forward to you joining our team, as we teach people how to make money online in a recession proof business. One of the ways, actually the hottest way.

Allow me to explain, if you are in marketing you know that email deliverability is at an all time low. Spam filters are not accurate and messages do not even get to 27% of people any more.... So what to do?

You allready know where I am headed... the hottest marketing , hence the biggest hottest marketing is on the hot social networking sites. Twitter, Facebook, TeeBeeDee, MySpace, FriendFeed, Linkedin, and a few others..

Please consider these five things for success at these sites.

Number One- Always greet your new followers! Depending on how many people start to follow you, that will determine whether you do it manually or use a program like Tweetlater to welcome new followers. Tweetlater is nice because as soon as they follow you a message goes out introducing yourself and thanking them. Resist the urge to post a link in this thank you message! How would it be when someone shook your hand for the first time they then tried to sell you something in the next sentence! A lot of people do post a link or a give away or anything, but I say be friendly, say hello let them come to you. This is far more effective than blasting a new person before they have heard a word that you have said…

Number Two- Be sure to post valuable information, interesting articles, photos, video links, music links. Give something of value to keep people interested. Insert links, affiliate links, the things that you sell sparingly or what the community will absorb. Keep them wondering what you will come up with. Google news reader is what I use mainly for this. Set it up to receive different RSS feeds from news, blogs or what ever might be interesting and apply to their lives. Its not always about what we like, I am the worst at this! My followers do hear a lot of motorcycle related stuff, I try not to over do it. Give them something of value for listening to your posts.

Number Three- Keep the personal stuff to a minimum, there needs to be some real life stuff that relates to your readers and prove you are not a post generating robot. My goodness not many want to know that much, I stubbed my toe, oh I put salt on my eggs, Come on.. Use discretion, be personal, and share when asked but don’t blog every breath the new puppy takes. I think you get this!

Number Four- Double check your posts for spelling, grammar, accuracy and by all means make sure the link works! You don’t have to be a scholar, or have perfect English grammar. I know mine is really rough! Do your best though, what you say and how you say it is all people have to judge you by. Not many successful first grader marketers out there. What I am saying is be a professional, if you want people to take you seriously! Double check the link after you have posted it! I am telling you, we all have posted bad ones and it looks very slip shod. Who wants to hook up and buy something from a third rate marketer. OK enough on that, one of my pet peeves.

Number Five- In this list anyway, answer your messages as quickly as you are able. Strike while the iron is hot! I do not mean just answer those that look like customers. Some of the people I spend the most time on messaging and the phone never really make a bunch of sales. People just want to be heard, answer your phone calls, messages and your messages posted as soon as possible. Do not try to evaluate the person asking right away, or wait if you can reply. To be a professional we must answer all reasonable questions and be polite.

Treat people with respect. Treat them like you want to be treated and enjoy great success in your social networking adventures.Thank you for reading this and I am looking forward to you joining me making money online in a recession proof business!
